March is Women’s History Month~! Do you know what I suspect women who have changed history possess? The ability to manage their mindset. World-changing women are often faced with obstacles, oppression and roadblocks. Mindsets are the difference between persevering and giving up.
As women who love Jesus, we, too, face obstacles and have the ability to shift our perspective to keep moving forward. Proverbs 23:7 reminds us that the way we think impacts who we become! (For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.). We need a reset. We need a mindset manicure.
Think about a time when you’ve needed a GEL manicure. You make your nail appointment and then you walk into the salon knowing “something needs to change”. Color, trimming cuticles, removing chips or outgrowth. You are then instructed to “pick a color”. This is where we go from “something needs to change” to “what does it need to change to”. You then spend time with your technician REMOVING the old color and putting on the GEL polish. But, the new color doesn’t adhere until you put it under the light.
The same is true with our mindset:
- “Something needs to change” – We identify something we are thinking about God, ourselves or a circumstance He has allowed in our lives that needs to change.
- “Pick a new color” – We identify a scripture, promise or truth to replace the thought with.
- We place the removal of the old mindset and the sealing of the new truth God gives us under HIS perfect light. We can’t do this in our own strength.
- This is the rhythm of 2 Cor. 10:5 taking every thought captive and making it bow in obedience to Christ.
How is God leading you to change a mindset? Maybe you don’t think you’re worthy, yet as Christ followers, we wear His righteousness. Are you are a worrier and need to replace worry with God’s peace. Are you telling yourself you are too old, too young, too much? Replace those lies with a truth about God, His provision, His peace and His timing. Spend prayer time laying down the old mindset and sealing the new one with the strength provided by the power of the Holy Spirit.
It’s time for a mindset manicure.
