It was a random, rainy Friday morning standing at my dryer. I had been through a difficult week and I was determined to count my blessings. It was then that I looked at what I was folding. It was a crib sheet. My husband and I had just acquired a crib for naps, sleepovers and playdates with our new grandson. It was in that moment that, hidden in my dryer, was some warm joy waiting to be acknowledged. I was not promised a grandchild. This is a gift. Folding crib sheets with little construction vehicles ushered in deep joy in the midst of a hard week. These sheets didn’t change anything about two very frustrating situations I faced. But they gave me perspective.

I realize that for some of you reading this you may be aching for a child or a grandchild. Or for you it may be waiting for a spouse, an open door to financial provision or help with a family situation. As you await God answering those prayers, how can you go hunting for the hidden? Buried in plain sight could be a meaningful marriage, rich friendships, lucrative earnings to bless you and others, amazing career trajectory or more. What is it for you that might be hidden in plain sight. Something ordinary you may be taking for granted like your health? Perhaps a full pantry of food or a good job in a hard economy? Ask God to show you the things hidden that you can unearth for joyful gratitude.

HUNTING FOR THE HIDDEN

I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name. Isaiah 45:3
